Furniture Recycling Project
The aims of the Project are:
- To assist families throughout East Lothian who are in receipt of benefits and have a need for furniture.
- To collect good quality second hand furniture for distribution to families in need.
The project is always in need of good quality second hand furniture and household items,
i.e. Suites, Beds(both of which must comply with Fire Safety Regulations), Wardrobes, Chests of Drawers, Curtains, Bedding, Pots & Pans, Bric a Brac
or any other Household Items.
We are also happy to undertake house clearances but would only be able to uplift items
that were recyclable.
We accept a wide range of domestic appliances and White goods, which are tested in our
Electrical Workshop.
Referrals for the project come from a variety of agencies, East Lothian Council Homeless
Team, Health Visitors, Social Workers, Citizens Advice Bureaux, Hospitals and Women’s Aid.
Families must approach one of the above Agencies who will complete a referral form,
which will then be sent to the project. The request will be fulfilled as soon as possible
depending on the availability of stock at that time. A charge of £5.00 is payable on delivery.
The project also supplies starter packs containing kitchen and cleaning items, bedding
towels and curtains.
The project has a warehouse at:
|
Unit 12a
Macmerry Industrial Estate
Macmerry
East Lothian
EH33 1RD
Tel. (01875) 615797
|
The shop sells surplus good quality furniture and larger items can be delivered free
of charge within East Lothian.
The revenue generated from the sale of donated items is invested back into the Project.
The Project employs a full time Development Officer, Driver and a part time Electrician
who is supported by a group of volunteers and placements and is funded by East Lothian Council
and Increase Programme.
Volunteers are always required for the project for assisting on the van, in the electrical
workshop, in the furniture warehouse and in the shop. If you are able to give up some of your
time to help us, please contact us at the address below or by
email.
