Children In Need
ELVON was once again successful in receiving a grant from
BBC Children-In-Need to distribute to individual children whose
families are on low income.
The grant awarded was £7,300 and applications for grants come
into us from a wide variety of agencies, including Health Visitors,
Social Workers, East Lothian Women’s Aid, First Step and others as appropriate.
Priority will be given to first time applications although individuals
who received a grant last year would still be considered.
Our last grant enabled us to award 225 individual grants.
There is no closing date for applications and the remaining money will
be distributed throughout the year until the Grant is spent.
Toy Appeal - Wheelie Bin Challenge
In the lead up to Christmas 2006 we held our Wheelie Bin Challenge asking the residents of East Lothian to donate toys to help disadvantaged children.
Once again we were not disappointed. 32 wheelie bins were decorated and placed in local businesses, health centres and local authority buildings. We also were fortunate to receive donations from churches, guides and brownies and other groups.
Referrals came in from a wide variety of agents and we were able to distribute 167 Santa Sacks.
A very big thank you to everyone involved.
